Annabelle's life was finally going according to plan. She had the right group of friends. Her childhood crush had finally started to notice her. She was pretty, popular, and in love.
And then one terrible night at a party Will enters her life and everything changes.
Will is the polar opposite of his older brother Trevor—Annabelle’s new boyfriend—the popular, straight-A, quarterback high school star. He's wild, charismatic, and full of secrets. He's completely different from anyone Annabelle has ever known, and soon their accidental run-in becomes a pattern as Annabelle finds herself seeking him out wherever she goes. Despite his open hostility with his older brother, Annabelle is drawn to him, wanting to be with him. Will opens a new world for Annabelle, one where she can shed her carefully constructed mask and be herself.
But being with Will comes at a price. And when tragedy strikes, she has to make a choice between the two brothers.
And the wrong one means losing everything forever.
"The Wrong Path" Reviews
3.75 stars! Cute YA coming-of-age story. Quick and enjoyable read. Book 1 of 1.
Heroine, Annabelle Priestly [student/adopted/16 years/brown hair/blue eyes] lives next door to Trevor Scarlett [student-quarterback/17 years/dark brown hair/brown eyes/drives a green SUV] and his brother, Will Scarlett [student-rebel/15 years/dark brown hair/brown eyes/drives a black convertible!] in what appears to be a posh neighborhood.
Annabelle is part of the “in crowd”, but early on it’s clear that her girlfriends are the “mean girls”. In the beginning I found her annoying – a naïve, timid, shy and lost follower. Of course I loved the rebel, Will. As the story progresses we get our fair share of high school drama; partying, drugs and peer pressure, but there is also sorrow and friendships tested. Will Annabelle grow a backbone? Will she find her path? Which brother will she end up with? Well, you are just going to have to read for yourself.
Hero rating: 4.5 stars
Heroine rating: 3.5 stars
Story line rating: 4 stars
Overall rating: 3.75 stars
Would I re-read this book: Probably not.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
I recommend The Wrong Path.
A good book (and author) found me! and i must say, i was really happy i was found. :)
This is a surprising read. I normally don’t read Contemporary Teen Romance on a whim, mainly because almost always, the storylines are basically the same. But after reading Forget You, I am starting to look forward to reading this genre. and The Wrong Path reinforced that feeling!
Annabelle is with the “in” crowd but not without consequences. She thought all the stuff important to her friends is unimportant to her, so she pretends to be like them. She can’t risk rising to object or she might find herself thrown out of the circle. This is a typical setting, i admit, but reading further in the book brought depth and further musings on the story.
Annabelle is somewhat annoying for the fact that she keeps on putting a front so she’ll be accepted by the popular circle she’s in. But i guess, this happens in real life so i won’t hold it out against her. and she’s so lucky having parents like hers. And can she really be that dense not to know that she’s falling for Will? Her character is not notable but I liked her at the party when she was… Ha! No spoilers, please. :)
Will – i’m in love with him! :) he’s one of the most solid and strongest characters i’ve ever read. bad boy appeal, indifference, once-in-a-blue-moon gentleness. His bluntness and acceptance for things as they are really did me in. When he confronted Belle on what they really are to each other, i was on his side (applauding him). That’s the kind of guy i want!!! Crap, the author sold me the story with Will alone! And what i wouldn’t do to do all those crazy rendezvous he did with Belle. *sigh*
The conflict the author represents definitely is a striking one. How will Annabelle choose? Yikes, i don’t wanna be in her place during that time.
The ending was simple, but i liked it. Although i wished the author took the time to have Annabelle tell off her “fake” friends just to solidify her decision to be herself and not be controlled by them.
I also wished the book could have a more enticing title that would’ve invite readers to try it. The title didn’t even embodied the essence of Annabelle’s story, because she took not the WRONG path, but the path LESS taken by girls in high school like her.
Overall, i loved The Wrong Path. A light and heart-melting read. I can’t forget you, Will. That’s why i will read you again.
What I Loved:
Loved: Will! Will is my new book boyfriend. He is one of the most perfect book guys I have ever read! Truly perfect, in my humble opinion.
Loved: Annabelle's parents, she has the most trusting parents I've ever read about. They give her space to make mistakes and to figure out how to fix them.
Loved: Ebony, Will's "friend" what an unexpected, wonderful character.
Loved: The writing style. I flew through this book and wished there had been more.
Annabelle is the poster child for angst sometimes. She can also be stupidly naive and there were times that I wanted to smack her upside the head; however, I never had that burning desire to be part of the "in" crowd either so maybe that's really how some people are.
The "in" crowd girls are bitchy! Are the "in" girls really like that? I can't imagine actually wanting to hang out with people who had absolutely zero respect for others. Not to mention that the "in" crowd guys are a bunch of jerks and criminals.
Trevor, Anna's lifetime crush was such a total sheep! Yep, ba-ba baby. Granted it could be said that he is walking through life pretty numb right now due to what's happening at home but still, ugh!
I absolutely loved how sweet Annabelle is I just wish she had realized sooner that she didn't need those bitchy girls and jerkwad boys to be happy. Of course, that would have made for a really short story and part of the fun of this book is watching Annabelle grow and discover who she really is.
Admittedly, I haven't read many YA contemporary novels but this book has made me realize that I may have been missing out.

I hate to say this, but I think the reviews for The Wrong Path by Vivian Marie Aubin du Paris are overrated on goodreads.com and amazon.com.
Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t consider this a 4 or 5 STAR book.
First off, from the book description I was expecting way more drama.
Secondly, Annabelle, the protagonist, wasn’t likeable. Not even a little bit. She is a naïve crybaby.
Example (SPOILER BEGINS HERE): Parker is not a nice guy. He drugs Annabelle’s drink at a party, with intentions of date-raping her. A few weeks later, after his first failed attempt, he tries to force himself on her again. Will comes to the rescue and abandons Parker in a parking lot. Annabelle wants to go back and get him. (Him being Parker, the guy I just said tried to rape her twice!!!!) I wanted to stop reading the book right then and there. Seriously, what is wrong with you, Annabelle? (SPOILER ENDS HERE)
Also, she places entirely too much importance on being a part of the “in crowd”. Not to mention, the girls who are a part of the “in crowd” are stereotyped from their freshly styled heads to their manicured toes. And, the people who aren’t a part of the “in crowd” are all Goths and druggies. (Can you get more stereotypical?)
Agh, I feel bad for ripping on this book. I REALLY wanted to like it. Based on all the stellar reviews, I had extremely high expectations going into this novel, and they were NOT met.
I gave The Wrong Path by Vivian Marie Aubin du Paris 2 STARS. I thought it was slow, lacked excitement and was full of clichéd characters. If you are still interested in The Wrong Path after reading this review, then purchase it on Amazon Kindle. It only cost a dollar.
READING, EATING & DREAMING
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Annabelle learns that running with the "in" crowd, isn't always what its cracked up to be! Throw 2 guys in the mix who are as different as hot and cold...and you have a life lesson to be learned about what is real vs show, love vs lust, and how heading down the wrong path can turn your world upside down.
Awwwwww this book was just awwwwww! Such a sweet coming of age story that I wish I had read when I was the same age as belle! Wishing for do-overs so you could truly follow your gut and not be a lamb in the flock! Awwwwww
